Hepatopancreatobiliary surgery (HPB)
The HPB Surgery service at Knox Private Hospital is dedicated to providing advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with a wide variety of diseases and complex problems relating to the liver, pancreas and biliary system, including:
- Liver, gall bladder, biliary and pancreatic cancers
- Assessment of incidental liver and pancreatic lesions
- Gallstones
- Pancreatitis
We work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide a comprehensive treatment service. This means our surgeons work closely with specialists in gastroenterology, interventional radiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology and nutrition to provide individualized, state-of-the-art treatment plans and high-quality care. As a patient, you have access to all of these services and specialists.
Our surgeons are also actively involved in emergency care as well as both acute and elective general surgery.
HPB Surgical procedures offered at Knox Private:
- Liver resection (major and minor)
- Liver tumor ablation
- Pancreas resection for benign and malignant disease (including Whipple procedure)
- Bile duct resection
- Bile duct repair
- Complex gallbladder resection
- General surgery - hernia (inguinal and incisional) and gallbladder operations
Surgical procedures (including major pancreatic surgeries and the Whipple procedure) when appropriate, are performed using advanced and minimally invasive techniques in state of the theatres which are equipped with the latest Da Vinci robotic, imaging and laparoscopic (key-hole surgery) equipment.
