Greater privacy and access as Knox Private expands urodynamics care

Bladder and pelvic floor symptoms can be deeply personal, yet they are far from uncommon. One in four Australians experiences some form of incontinence, according to Continence Health Australia, but embarrassment and a lack of awareness can prevent people from seeking support.
This August, during Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Awareness Month, Knox Private Hospital is helping bring these often-unspoken health concerns into the open with the launch of its expanded, purpose-built Urodynamics Unit.
The new unit provides a dedicated environment for assessing bladder and lower urinary tract conditions, with privacy, comfort and continuity of care considered at every stage. Preparation, testing and consultation spaces are now located together, allowing patients to complete their appointment in one secure clinical area rather than moving between different parts of the hospital.
For patients who may already feel anxious or self-conscious about their symptoms, that more considered experience matters.
Dr Ruchi Singh, Urogynaecologist at Knox Private Hospital, said the upgraded unit would help the team provide more personalised care in a reassuring setting.
“The new Urodynamics Unit has been designed to provide patients with a more comfortable and reassuring experience. Having a dedicated space for this specialised testing allows us to better assess bladder and pelvic floor symptoms, guide patients towards the most appropriate treatment and support them throughout the process.”
Urodynamic testing examines how the bladder and urethra store and release urine. It can help investigate symptoms including urinary leakage, urgency, frequent urination, a weak stream or difficulty emptying the bladder, giving specialists valuable information to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
A more private, connected patient journey
The expanded unit includes:
- a private pre- and post-procedure change area, providing a quiet place to prepare and change
- a dedicated procedure room equipped with contemporary diagnostic technology
- a private consultation room where patients can discuss results and next steps with their specialist in confidence.
The purpose-built layout also increases the hospital’s capacity to support more people requiring specialist bladder and pelvic health assessment.
